Bench space or counter space in a kitchen is one of the most overlooked aspects in deciding the kitchen design. However, one can never have too much of it. In fact, having too much bench space is rarely a problem within a kitchen; it is usually having too less space. As mentioned in many previous blogs, the size of an average home is getting smaller, and so is the size of the kitchen. Therefore, there are many clever and smart tactics to create space in even the smallest areas. Below, check out 5 clever tricks in creating more bench space within the kitchen.

Integrate Appliances: Appliances take up significant space on the countertop. It almost appears as if they have taken over the entire bench. Rather than stacking the items on the countertop, add them inside the cabinetry. Make them a part of the storage section to free up the bench space and keep the kitchen looking light and airy. One can even go for an appliance cabinet, where the user simply has to open the shutter and then use whichever appliance is required.

Basic Declutter: One of the most apparent ways the countertops get crowded is by placing our electronics on the counter. Items such as phones, tablets, and laptops are simply plugged in for charging and left on the counter while the user is in the kitchen. Avoid cluttering the space with technology by simply decluttering. Have a technology or charging station or drawer to place all items in a designated area, rather than scattered all over the countertop.
